Volunteer Program
We would love your support. The hospital is a unique place for volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of children. As a volunteer, you play a very important role in helping our special kids prepare to return to their homes, schools, and communities. We are committed to matching your skills and interests with the wide variety of opportunities we offer. When you dedicate your time at The HSC Pediatric Center, we guarantee you will help make a difference in the lives of children!
All The HSC Pediatric Center volunteers must:
- be at least 16 years of age,
- be in good health,
- have an interview,
- have a health screening,
- complete a training program
All volunteers should be willing to commit to at least three hours a week. Hours will be arranged according to what is most convenient for the volunteer’s schedule.
Patient Care Volunteers choose to work directly with our children, extending the care of our nurses and therapists. You might cuddle a baby or toddler whose family cannot be here. You may read a bedtime story, or help with schoolwork. You may also help recreation therapy staff plan and organize special parties, activities and outings for our patients.
Administrative Volunteers are vital to the successful operation of the hospital. We turn to these volunteers to lend a helping hand with administrative tasks such as typing and filing. We may ask for help with special events and fund raising activities, too.
We also welcome friends, co-workers and community service organizations who wish to volunteer their time.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at The HSC Pediatric Center. To learn more about our hospital, our Volunteer Program and other HSC programs and services, please call us.
